Development of new technologies in Pomeranian companies

Pomerania (Pomorskie) region like other Polish regions recognizes the importance of new technologies in the companies. Regional authorities support the development of the new technologies, e.g. using European Union Funds. This circuit provides a set of 3 economy discovery visits which will present good examples of companies using new technologies and innovative solutions. The aim of this circuit is to discover implementation of the new technologies and new solutions in different economical sectors in Pomerania.

The first discovery visit will be in Prof. Hilary Koprowski Gdansk Science and Technology Park. The owner of this Park is the Pomeranian Special Economic Zone Sp. z o. o.

The Park is a place where venturesome, active, ambitious and creative people meet.

It offers modern office and laboratory spaces, as well as technology and production areas, all well-equipped with ICT infrastructure. One of the most important activity is a Technology Incubator for the creation and development of new companies established by university graduates and academic staff members. Now, there are over 80 companies in the Park, all based on innovative ideas. They support the development if the Pomeranian Voivodeship by making it competitive and become the first ones to contribute to the R&D activities of the Polish economy. Visitors will visit its very modern premises including some innovative facilities (like EduKindergarten or EduPark).

The second study visit will be in Grupa LOTOS S.A. in Gdansk, one of the most modern and dynamically developing oil concerns in Pomerania but also in all Central Europe. Its main activity branches are: crude oil production, refining and marketing of oil products. Grupa Lotos is a producer of unleaded gasoline, diesel, fuel oils, aviation fuels, motor and industrial lubricants, bitumen and waxes. Now it’s a very well recognized brand on the market not only for it’s products and services but also as a sponsor of many sport and cultural events. Visitors will visit its main premises in Gdansk and one of the biggest refineries in Poland.

The third study visit will be in PIKA Sp. z o.o. in Gdansk. This innovative company is a leader of the information management market. The innovative and quickly developed company offers its service to customers representing many business sector all over Poland as well as to other countries.  PIKA is an expert in: traditional archiving of information, business process automation (digitization of documents), professional advice, audit the flow of information within the company, the implementations of the flow of information systems. Visitor will visit the PIKA Operational Center in Gdansk.

The circuit lasts four days. The first day is for travel to Gdansk, welcome and opening session. Then there’s one visit per day. The return flight will be the 4^th day in the afternoon. The program will include some sightseeing of Gdansk and social event based on the regional tradition and culture.

Transport from one location to another is provided by bus.
