Fruchthof Konstanz GmbH was founded as a successor of two traditional family businesses in 1993. Currently 38 employees from 7 nations are employed full-time.
Fruchthof Konstanz GmbH is a wholesaler of fruits, vegetables and tropical fruits. They supply about 350 customers in the entire Lake Constance region per day, including Hegau, Linzgau and Oberschwaben with 14 own trucks. The customers can be found in the gastronomy, canteen kitchens and retail. The turnover of goods is around 10.000 tons per year. The entire procurement of goods is occurred regionally, nationally but also internationally – depending on the supply.
The subsidiary ‘Die Küchenmamsell Frischprodukte GmbH’ was founded in 1998 and employs 6 full-time workers. They prepare and deliver kitchen-ready vegetables.
Fruchthof Konstanz GmbH has introduced in 1995 as the first wholesale company in Germany an environmental management system according to the EU Eco Audit (EMAS). The company gives a valuable contribution to the development of sustainable agriculture in the Lake Constance region. The regular use of agricultural products from the immediate area also guarantees the future of small producers and helps to preserve the typical cultivated landscape of the Lake Constance region.
During the construction of the office and warehouse building environmental considerations were at the forefront. The active energy concept includes the use of the soil temperature in summer for cooling and in winter as a heating of the warehouse. The passive energy concept supports the active components by a solid construction with insulation, intensive greening on the roof (1.000 m2) and heat buffers in the loading area of the warehouse. A computer-controlled energy optimization system also contributes to the minimization of energy consumption. The energy saving in comparison to conventional construction is 50%. The rest of the power requirement is covered 100% by renewable energy since 2003.
