Infrabel is responsible for the Belgian railway network. Every day, 12,168 employees ensure optimum performance of our equipment: railways, catenaries, switches, signals, crossings, etc. Mobility and accessibility in Belgium are our primary tasks, which is why we keep expanding our railway infrastructure. Our mission: to develop a safe and high-quality railway network for all the trains of the future. In our role as infrastructure manager and operator of the Belgian railway network we distribute the available capacity on the railway lines and coordinate all the trains running on Belgian territory.

In our strive to create optimum opportunities for train traffic we are expanding the railway network so as to make it a strong link within a sustainable transport system. The central location of our railway network within Europe offers plenty of opportunities for the socio-economic development of our country. Company under public law
Infrabel is a public limited company. Our mission is set out in a management contract with the government and focuses primarily on the interests of our society. We receive annual government funding to achieve our goals.

Since Infrabel's establishment in 2005, we have been constantly working to improve all aspects of safety in the railway environment. The safety of our train passengers, our employees and everyone near the tracks is our main priority.

With a comprehensive maintenance and renewal policy, Infrabel invests in a reliable and punctual railway network for passengers, Infrabel is also committed to keeping passengers informed about current train traffic in real time.

Infrabel desires to offer solutions to mobility issues and aims to provide a competitive railway network to its customers and passengers in order to support the economic and social development of our country.

A financially fit company
We will be forced to carry out our plans in the face of strong pressure on government funding. In order to maintain a constantcly sound financial situation, we intend to use the resources available to us efficiently, and we will have to find innovative ways to finance investments.
