PATTO TERRITORIALE ZONA OVEST TORINO

The creation of the Patto Territoriale Zona Ovest di Torino (a territorial agreement between several municipalities in the North West part of Turin), started in 1996 and was put into effect with the signature of the “Protocollo d'Intesa del Patto Territoriale della Zona Ovest di Torino"   on 16th January 1999 in Alpignano.
In the month of December of the same year, in Venaria Reale, the actual Patto Territoriale was signed along with all the interventions following the call for bid of November.
Since its creation, the institution has developed beyond its initial level of support to projects funded by the State, and has transformed into a local development tool.
In fact, today it operates, in cooperation with the Municipalities, in diversified sectors: economic development, environmental issues, sustainable mobility, training, labour, tourism, culture, and so on. This action has taken into the area important additional resources to those originally allocated by the Ministry.
The additional protocols represent the useful complement to reach the objective of the organisation and constitute, through the implementation of permanent specific panels, an observatory in the area, which can identify and qualify specific requests that can enable an integrated planning complying with the social aspects related to local development and carries out interventions to identify needs on one hand but also prevent them on the other.
The panels, some of them started in 1999 and others in the following years, continue to promote specific projects, coordinated by Zona Ovest di Torino S.r.l. (institution responsible for the Patti Territoriali). This role involves, in a shred way, several representatives, at a local level, which signed the protocol and participate in the development planning of the area.
