CITTA' METROPOLITANA DI TORINO

The Città metropolitana di Torino is a second-level territorial institution created according to the “Delrio” law (n. 56 of 2014) and has replaced the Province of Turin since 1st January 2015, but has kept and extended its functions. It’s a unique reality in Italy, since it is formed by 315 Municipalities and borders with France and the Valle d’Aosta region. The population reached 2.316.000 inhabitants on 31st December 2015. It is the largest Italian Metropolitan City for territorial extension and has a complex territorial articulation, which also includes other homogeneous local areas, mountains and hills with historical, cultural and economic peculiarity. The Delrio Law, after twenty years, institutionally represents a social, economic and territorial tendency: the borders between cities go beyond the single municipalities and represent more a metropolitan dimension; other European countries have adopted or are adopting laws recognizing the metropolitan dimension.
The Metropolitan City still keeps all the provincial functions and also covers the following:
• The adoption and annual update of the Strategic Plan for the metropolitan area;
• The structure of the coordinated management systems for public services, the organisation of the public general interest services;
• The general territorial planning, including the communication structures, the service networks and infrastructures regarding the metropolitan community, also establishing the bindings and objectives of the activities and the functions of the municipalities of the area;
• The mobility and viability, also ensuring compatibility and coherence of the urban municipal planning;
• The promotion and coordination of the economic and social development;
• The promotion and coordination of the information and digitalization systems at a metropolitan level.

Regarding education and vocational training, the Città Metropolitana di Torino offers, with the support of the European Social Fund, a range of diversified education and training courses, which focus on the needs of the individuals, of the companies and the services available on the territory, with the involvement of the schools, of the social field, of the labour market and the local institutions.

The Education and Vocational Training Department:
• Provides guidance and accompaniment services aimed at enhancing success choices, solve difficulties and support change phases of the individual and the local context;
• Offers high-quality training opportunities, constantly monitored and surveyed with a high satisfaction of the beneficiaries and good employability level;
• Draws up the planning of the school network, enhance the right to study, integration and educational assistance.
In particular, training activities for youngsters, unemployed, people social and professional difficulties, individuals with disabilities, foreigners, adults and enterprises are carried out.
Furthermore, the Education and Vocational Training Department of the Città Metropolitana di Torino has participated in the last few years, as coordinator, partner or stakeholder, to several European projects within the framework of the Comenius Regio, Leonardo da Vinci, FEI, Arco Latino, Alcotra, Erasmus Plus, and other programmes.
