Scientific and Technological Park Galileo

The mission of Galileo STP is summed up in the motto “innovate to compete”, which operatively means supporting the competitiveness of enterprise through the implementation of activities and services to circulate innovation, transfer technology and apply the research results.

The strategic goals that Galileo STP pursues refer to four basic functions: re-industrialization, innovation, qualification and diversification of the production system.
In relation to re-industrialization, innovation and qualification, the priority is to give new competitiveness to traditional sectors, particularly those related to production of low-tech goods. In this field Galileo STP aims at ensuring competitiveness is regained through the individual implementation of technology, including at systems level, with an improved exchange and distribution of knowledge and the innovation services that are available.

Finally, the districts, which are a strategic and flexible resource for local development, could become a weakness if there is just monoculture production. Diversified production systems, due to the emergence of new high-tech spin-offs from universities or companies, young researchers and technicians, is the preamble to new wealth in the development of our economic system.

The activities of Galileo STP are divided in the following fields: Innovation Circulation, Industrial design and new materials, Quality and certification and New Enterprise, and are developed in close collaboration with Padua University, Research Centres and Category Associations in the area.

- Innovation Spreading: in this context, Galileo implements initiatives promoting and spreading technology, developing innovation and technology transfer projects for enterprises and industrial clusters and specific cooperation projects between University and Enterprise;

- Design and Innovative Materials: the attention paid today to innovative materials, technologies and creative design is constantly growing: especially during periods of economic crisis, product innovation is a key factor to maintain market competitiveness. MaTech is the Innovation and Materials Research Centre of Galileo Science and Technology Park in Padua;

- Product Quality and Certification: in this area Galileo carries on the SIL-Laboratories System activity, in order to provide small and medium enterprises with advisory services regarding the test and certification of products;

- New Enterprise: in order to overcome this lack, Galileo, in cooperation with Confindustria Padua, the University of Padua, and with the support of the Chamber of Commerce of Padua, promoted BAN Veneto, a Business Angel Network: a meeting point for new entrepreneurs who have just started a high-tech start-up and investors interested in investing a part of their income in highly innovative business projects.
