Ljudska Univerza v Celju

Celje People's University is a public institution for adult education. The beginnings of organized education of adults in Celje are dating back in 1921, when People's university was founded. In 1959, Workers University Celje was founded for the educational needs of the county Celje. In 1997, the Municipal Council of the Municipality of Celje has adopted an ordinance for establishing a public educational institution People's University of Celje.

They see the purpose and vision of its operation in the modern education center that will be able to follow all the new developments in the field of education and will therefore be able to educate people in terms of lifelong learning. In addition to formal education, therefore, non-formal education is also provided.

They ensure to introduce new secondary school programs,  update old ones: preschool education, computer tehnician, economic tehnician, merchant. They provide you with a national vocational qualification training for Life successfulness, study circles.

Recently they have also renewed Heavy construction machinery program, innovations in the field of secondary education and in the field of non-formal education they have introduced new courses and workshops. Foreign language (general and business) courses are very well attended, accounting workshops, rhetoric and communication, other workshops for business and personal growth and Courses of computer programs.
A large emphasis is placed on the field of personal and professional excellence. People's University Celje participates in numerous national and international projects. In 2011 Adult Education Centre was coordinating  Grundtvig project “Consultants for Quality”, where was agreed a new Charter of quality of the People's University of Celje, adults are successfully trained in computer programs, etc.

Great opportunity is seen in Lifelong learning program and every year more and more training courses are organized, reaching a wide target group (young and old). The center for independent learning and Exchange of knowledge are available to visitors of all age groups. The latter was in March 2006 a novelty at Public university and wider region.
